The adventure begins in the Bay Area to meet Quest leaders and fellow Questers. Then, the group hops in a van and starts heading south, exploring Redwood groves, tide pools and breathtaking beaches.
The group starts with a backpacking trip into the beautiful backcountry of Big Sur. Next up is paddling through the Channel Islands on an overnight sea kayaking adventure, visiting eerie sea caves, towering cliffs and abundant wildlife. Then it’s time to catch some waves for two days of surfing lessons!
A Glimpse Into Surf ‘n’ Turf Quest
This incredibly inclusive and supportive group absolutely crushed surfing and explored the coast as an unstoppable unit of adventure and silliness.
In a recent summer, Questers had a blast on their Surf ’n’ Turf adventure, from finding the world’s best waffles in Cayucos and sand dune racing in Montaña de Oro, to sea cave kayaking in the Channel Islands and hot spring soaking in Montecito. Read more here.

| Monday | Go tidepooling as the group makes its way toward the world-famous coastline of Big Sur. |
| Tuesday to Thursday | Stuff everything needed into a pack and get ready for a beautiful two-night backpacking trip through Big Sur. Climb to amazing views, swim in rivers and sleep under the stars! |
| Friday to Saturday | Hit the beach and journey down the famous Highway 1. Celebrate Shabbat and relax on the beach with new friends! |
| Sunday to Monday | Check out the amazing sea caves, wildlife and sunsets in the Channel Islands on an overnight kayaking adventure. Spend the night on Santa Cruz Island. |
| Tuesday to Wednesday | Catch a wave while learning to surf from the pros! Spend the mornings with personalized surfing instruction in the warm waters of Southern California. No prior experience required! |
| Thursday | Start heading north and spend the last night as a group feasting on a delicious banquet and celebrating the adventures together. |
| Friday | Return to the Bay Area where it all began. Say goodbye to new friends and reunite with family. |
